Hello — I'm Marta.
A native Portuguese speaker and language teacher, with students from all over the world. These days I do it all online.
How it started
“My passion for teaching Portuguese began when I started helping international students at my university. I discovered that I had a natural ability to break down complex grammar rules and make learning enjoyable and accessible.”
All these years later, that is still the job: taking something that looks impossible on the page — the subjunctive, the swallowed vowels, the pronouns that hop about — and turning it into something you can say out loud without thinking about it first.
In that time Marta has helped hundreds of students learn Portuguese through private tutoring. The business has been running for many years and moved online, first to Zoom and then into self-paced video courses, so that the same lessons could reach people who are not within driving distance of the sul de Portugal.

The method

Marta’s short videos are not filmed against a whiteboard. They are shot in the places the words belong to — the pastelaria, the beach, the petrol station, the health centre — which is exactly where you will need them. The channel is new and there are nine of them so far.
